Jungle Cats: Surge in Nepal

Number of tigers in Nepalese territory has increased in the recent years.On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, July 29th, a newfound information about the number of tigers in Nepal was released. The number of jungle cats within territorial boundary of Nepal had risen to 350 from 121 in 2010, almost tripling the count . The number of Bengal Tigers, specially in the western terai plains of Bardiya and Banke, has been on the rise since 2009 after Government of Nepal initiated the protection campaign. With the supporting hands of The World Wildlife Fund (which has been developing ecotourism projects in Nepal), Local Communities, Nepal Army and The Governing Body: Ministry of Culture, Aviation and Tourism, preservation of Tigers was put up on priority.
