Mt. Kailash tour is an incredible and challenging tour in western Tibet. The Mount Kailash is a holy mountain in Tibet standing on the basin of Lake Manasarovar.
Mount Kailash and the Holy Lake Manasarovar are the two magnificent tourist destinations in the far western corner of Tibetan Plateau. It takes about 4 days on Jeep to reach the dream land of Kailash. It is possible to trek from Simikot for a week to reach. The extremely beautiful lake with the floating swans and the spectacular mount Kailash are respected place for both Hindus and Buddhist. For Hindus Mt Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. Four great rivers originate from Lake Mansarovar – the Indus, Karnali, Bramhaputra and the Sutlej.
Kailash is the home of Lord Shiva. Mt. Kailash 6741m is a black mountain with four sheer walls and snow capped top. The 53 km periphery is the trail for circumambulation around this holy mountain and takes 3 days. The Kora or circumambulation starts at Darchen some 30km from lake Manasarovar. During this tour, we enjoy great view of world's highest mountains, meet the nomad sheep herders and enjoy the unique beauty of Tibetan desert.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our staff, who will escort you to the hotel, where our Sherpa guide or the office staff will give you a brief orientation about the hotel, Kathmandu itself, trekking, and the do's and don’ts of the area. They will also review any additional information that you might require while in Nepal, including an overview of the next day's sightseeing tour. In the evening, you will enjoy a complimentary welcome dinner at one of the finest traditional Nepalese restaurants in Kathmandu, with the necessary transfer to and from the hotel by taxi, bus. After your breakfast, you will precede to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you will tour the ancient palace, the temple of the Kumari, the living goddess of Nepal, Hanuman Dhoka, and Kasthamandav Temple with a guide knowledgeable about Nepalese history, architecture, and religion. From there, you will proceed by taxi, bus to the Buddhist site, Swoyambhunath Stupa, also known as the "Monkey Temple" because of its lively troops of resident monkeys. You will then visit Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest shrine for Hindus, situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River, a popular cremation site. Before returning to the hotel, you will visit Boudhnath Stupa, a Buddhist pilgrimage center and home to many colorful gompas, or monasteries. Once back at the hotel, you will receive a briefing about the trek and have a chance to meet your guides and ask any last minute questions before tomorrow morning's departure. Overnight in Hotel
Our Tibet overland tour starts with an early morning drive to Kodari, which is in the Nepali boarder post. From Kodari we drive up to the Zhang Mu clearing the Chinese immigration continuing the journey up to beautiful George of Nylam. On the route you will get to enjoy the clear view of the Langtang, Gaurisankar, Melungtse and Khumbu Himal range. Overnight in Guest House
Today we leave Nyalam behind and drive to Pelgu Tso through the Thong La Pass. The road then drops before climbing again to Lalung La Pass. From here we will have an incredible view of Shisha Pangma (8012 M). Again we will drive further to our camping site to Saga, which is a typical Chinese and Tibetan town. This town is the gate away the pilgrims who are visiting Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Overnight in tented camp
It’s a 145 Km drive from Saga to Zhongba.The road is fine and the trip will take about 4-5 hours of driving. In Zhongba there is a small monastery at the western end of town. You can stop by and visit the monastery if you wish to. Roads beyond Zhongba are very bumpy and dusty. Though the sceneries are very beautiful and you might want to stop now and then to take a few snaps. Again the drive continues to Lake Manasarovar. The road is very bumpy and dusty. On the way we will pass several rivers and we will pass Mayum La pass too. The scenery is stunningly beautiful with panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon the arrival of Manasarovar we will spend our night camping at Hor Qu. Overnight in Tented Camp
Darchen is about 30 Km away from our camping site on the north direction. This is the main gate away for the Kailash pilgrims. Here we will arrange yak or ponies for Kailash Circuit trek. Overnight in Tented Camp
The Kailash circuit covers three days of trekking. Its 53 Km long and it’s not an easy route to trek on. This trek will take about 6 hours of hiking and climbing. We will head west in clockwise direction and after few kilometers the trial climbs up to cairn at 4730m, from where Mt. Kailash comes to view. En route we will visit Tarboche, where annual flagpole raising ceremony takes place in Saga Dawa. Overnight in Tented Camp
Today we will cross Dolma La pass at the height of 5630 m and frozen Lake of Gouri Kunda at 5608 m. This is the lake where Hindus worship and immerse themselves in icy water of the lake. Overnight in Tented Camp
It’s the final day of parikrama is an easy 2-3 hours of walk down to where the river emerges on to the Barga plain. Today we will complete the 3 days Kailash circuit and drive to Darcha and then to Lake Manasarovar today. We will be spending the night at Chiu Gompa this day. Chiu Gompa is situated on the edge of rocky cliff overlooking the Lake Manasarovar and Mt. Kailash. Overnight in Tented Camp
This is the day you will rest and explore the Manasarovar area on your own. You can explore the meditation caves in these areas. You can take a bath in the holy water of Manasaovar Lake or can just pass the peaceful hours in the Chiu Gompa. Overnight in Tented Camp
Today we will follow the same road drive from Manasarovar to Saga. As you already know it’s a bumpy ride with fantastic sceneries on the both side of the road. Overnight in Tented Camp
Today we’ll drive to Xigatse with the panoramic scenarios. Overnight in Guest House
After a stroll though the old city we depart for the two and a half hour drive to Gyantse. While approaching the small farming town we can clearly see the old fort that was captured by Young husband during his 1904 raid into Tibet. Here the main attraction is the Kumbum monastery with its extraordinary architecture. Overnight in Guest House
This will be a long drive, but on the way we cross the Karo-la with the beautiful glacier, we see Yamdrok Tso which is named the Turquoise Lake and cross the Kamba-la from where we descend to the main road which bring us all the way to Lhasa. Overnight in Hotel
Today, we will go for city for sightseeing of Sera Monastery, one of the most important and old monastery of Tibet, as well a school for Tibetan Buddhism. The Jorkhang Temple is another interesting place to visit as it boasts a lot of historic importance and tales. Conclude the day tour by visiting Bharkor Bazaar and back to hotel for overnight stay. Today you will be transferred to airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. Once you land in Kathmandu airport, you will be picked up from the airport and drop you to the hotel. Rest of the time will be at leisure. Overnight in Hotel
