In 2010, he and his company, Gurkha Encounters, was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) for his services and contribution in the UN supported discharge process of Maoist army personnel disqualified from joining the Nepal Army during the UN verification process.
Born on the lap of the Himalayas, Solukhumbhu, Rahul has a long family tie-up with tourism. His father and uncle both worked as a guide and cook for trekking groups, naturally drawing him towards the profession. Being a travel enthusiast, he has explored many prominent trekking destinations as a solo traveler and, since 2015, has been helping wanderers seeking incredible journeys.
Chhoki Sherpa, a permanent resident of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality 9, Dolakha District, is a young mountaineer who climbed Mt. Everest in the spring of 2018 with the message, “Buddha was born in Nepal”. She started the journey of her first expedition from Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha to deliver the message of peace from the top of the world. Before climbing Everest, she climbed Ramdung Peak (5,925m) in 2017. She is also multi-lingual, speaking Nepali, English and Korean.
Nirmal Budhathoki, a permanent resident ofKamalamani – 4, Sindhuli, is the Senior Finance Consultant in Gurkha Encounters. He worked in Gurkha Encounters from 2005 to 2009 as the full time head of the finance department, and since 2009 he has been monitoring Gurkha Encounters’ finance department as a part-time consultant. Currently pursuing his ACCA, UK course,and having completed a MBS specializing in finance, he is technically proficient in MS Word/ Excel and various accounting software.
Bharat Lal Joshi, a permanent resident of Imadol, Lalitpur, Nepal, has been the Finance Manager at Gurkha Encounters since 2018. He has over three decades of experience in finance management and corporate policies.
Mr. Ang Jeeva Sherpa (AJ), a permanent resident of Okhaldhunga, Nepal is a Trekking Guide in Gurkha Encounters. He is a certified trekking and tour guide under the Ministry of Tourism Culture and Civil Aviation of Nepal who has been involved in this field for more than a decade. Academically, he has completed Bachelor’s Degree, because of which he has a wide range of knowledge in different fields. He is also a nature guide with abundant knowledge of birds.
Ganesh Bahadur Gurung, a permanent resident of Lapu, Gorkha, is a license holder French speaking guide. He has been leading treks in Nepal for more than 17 years, and has been associated with Gurkha Encounters since 2017. He has led clients to almost all the trekking destinations in Nepal and accompanied clients in the Himalayan regions of Tibet, Ladak, and other parts of India as a French interpreter. In addition, he has been working as a city cultural tour guide for more than 9 years.
Babu Kaji Thapa, a permanent resident of Tupche-2, Nuwakot, has beenworking as a driver in Gurkha Encounters since 2014. Soon after completing high school in 2001, he obtained his professional driving license. As a “B class” license holder he has much experience in driving Toyota V8 Land Cruisers, Land Rovers, Marutis, Ecco Vans, and many other vehicles.
