Born on the lap of the Himalayas, Solukhumbhu, Rahul has a long family tie-up with tourism. His father and uncle both worked as a guide and cook for trekking groups, naturally drawing him towards the profession. Being a travel enthusiast, he has explored many prominent trekking destinations as a solo traveler and, since 2015, has been helping wanderers seeking incredible journeys.
Rahul started his career as a librarian and then worked as a salesperson for an educational kit supplier. In 2015, he made a life-altering decision to quit his job and start a new career as an operation assistant for a tour company. His fondness for meeting new folks and hearing their stories and his passion for travel made him natural at his job.
Not only he believes that tourism can change the socio-economy of the community, but it also aids the advancement of the mindset of the local people. With this in mind, he joined Gurkha Encounters in 2022 as the company is one of the few tour agencies that promotes and practices responsible and sustainable tourism.
