The northern district of Rasuwa has always fascinated travelers in Nepal to its optimum point. The rugged landscapes, varied flora and fauna, raging rivers, quaint villages, enigmatic beauty and distinct culture of the region has created a touristic aroma all across the district. The natives to the region, The Tamangs, Indo Tibetan individuals, have resided in the various corners of this region for centuries now. Owing to their peculiar walk of life, a popular trail passess through the heart of Rasuwa district, The Tamang Heritage Trail.
The usual trek to this trail begins from Syafurbesi(1420 meters), a small town stationed in the conflux of two northern rivers, Langtang and Bhotekoshi, which emerge from the himalayan mountains to the north. The trail then follows through the villages of Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, Lama Hotel, Syabru and then ends at Dhunche. The whole trail leads you through picturesque landscape with jaw dropping views of Langtang and Ganesh range. The distinct culture adhered by tamang people on your way will keep you curious. You will find small hot water springs, prayer manis, suspension bridges, tibetan monasteries and typical tamang houses all along the trail. While the remoteness of these places makes it difficult to access, it is definitely worthwhile after you have done. The tamang group of people are known as one of the friendliest groups of individuals among those residing here in Nepal which will make your trip even tastier. Also, the local delicacies offered in most of the teahouses will make you crave for more.
This trek is a mediocre trek recommended for any kind of trekkers, be it professional trekkers looking to seek spiritual and environmental liberty or be it novice trekkers looking to challenge their abilities.The highest point of the trek, Nagthali Peak is stationed at an elevation of 3165 meters making it a simple yet fulfilling trek. While the trail is all rugged and remote, but it will all make sense after the memories that you will create. The trail is flocked with tourists in the autumn and spring for its natural charisma that it portrays. The snowy paths in winter make it difficult to pass through while the Spring (March till May) brings out vivid colors in the natural vegetation, lush forests and steep hills of the trail.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our staff, who will escort you to the hotel, where our Sherpa guide or the office staff will give you a brief orientation about the hotel, Kathmandu itself, trekking, and the do's and don’ts of the area. They will also review any additional information that you might require while in Nepal, including an overview of the next day's sightseeing tour. In the evening, you will enjoy a complimentary welcome dinner at one of the finest traditional Nepalese restaurants in Kathmandu, with the necessary transfer to and from the hotel by taxi, bus. After your breakfast, you will precede to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you will tour the ancient palace, the temple of Kumari, hailed as the living goddess of Nepal, Hanuman Dhoka and Kasthamandav Temple with a guide knowledgeable about Nepalese history, architecture, and religion. From there, you will proceed by taxi, bus to the Buddhist site, Swoyambhunath Stupa, also known as the "Monkey Temple" because of its lively troops of resident monkeys. You will then visit Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest shrine for Hindus, situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River, a popular cremation site. Before returning to the hotel, you will visit Boudhnath Stupa, a Buddhist pilgrimage center and home to many colorful gompas, or monasteries. Once back at the hotel, you will receive a briefing about the trek and have a chance to meet your guides and ask any last minute questions before tomorrow morning's departure. Overnight in hotel

We depart for our trek start point Syabrubesi from Kathmandu in the morning. The drive to syafrubesi is scenic and passes through numerous valleys and river basin of Trishuli river. We enter the Langtang National Park and drive through the district headquarter Dhunche. The road then descends for about 2 hours until we reach the conflux of two rivers Bhotekoshi and Langtang river, this point is called Syabrubesi.

We start our trek from Syabrubesi and pass through small settlements of Tamang people. The trail crosses through Goljung village on the way which replicates authentic Tamang culture. We move ahead with panoramic views of Langtang, Ganesh, Shishapangma and others until we reach Gatlang village for our overnight stay.

We descend to Thangbuche from Gatlangh and gaze at the magnificent views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Ranges along the way. Next, pass by the Chilime Hydropower dam and ascend until Tatopani. The name Tatopani literally means ‘hot water’ in Nepali owing to the natural hot springs there. However, the hot springs are no longer there after the earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015.

Our trek passes through dense pine forest and small Tamang settlement on our way from Tatopani to Thuman. We reach brindagn after 2 hrs of trek and ascend our way up to Nagthali. Before us is mesmerizing views of Langtang, Sanjen,Kerung and Ganesh Himal. We descend from Nagthali to reach our overnight stop Thuman.

We first make a steep descend from Briddim for about 2 hours until we reach Lingling, which is a small village of people of Tibetan descendant. The trail takes a steep ascent from Lingling towards Briddim. Briddim is a quite village that replicates Tibetan styled houses built from stones. You will be amazed at seeing how evenly the houses are built even at such remote region.

Today, we trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel. The trail descends to Ghopche Khola which is a small stream. Then we ascend to Lama Hotel via Rimche. Lama Hotel is located on the banks of the Langtang River and surrounded by lush forests and amazing mountain vista. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

The trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village passes through small settlements of Tamangs such as: Ghodatabela, Thangsyap until you are revealed to a big valley that is filled up with rock boulders and debris. We leave the treeline of tropical forest behind us and start on to semi-arid topography until we reach Langtang village.

After breakfast at Langtang , we start our trek. We traverse through yak pastures and numerous chorten along the trail. Its a straight trail through small villages of Mundu, Sindum until you reach Kyanjin Gompa that sits right on the lap of Mt. Langtang Lirung

Today we descend via the same trail towards Lama hotel. It is a long walk but it descends via various villages of Tamangs. Langtang Village, Riverside, Thangsyap are the villages that we pass through before reaching Lama Hotel.

We steeply descend along the basin of Langtang river today until we reach Bamboo. The trail then is easy going with a straight forwards path. After a few hours of walk along the Langtang river, we reach Syabrubesi which marks the end of our trek.
