Ngima Sherpa, a permanent resident of Solukhumbu, is the General Manager of Gurkha Encounters. Soon after completing his MA in English, he joined Gurkha Encounters in 2014 as a travel consultant. His very first project was for the UK based ‘The Blast Films’ adventure filming project, “Flying to the Ends of the Earth – S01E01 - The Himalayas”, which was hugely successful. He handled all the local management, and during the shooting period he was in regular correspondence with the production team in the UK and local vendors in Nepal to successfully accomplish the project.
Before joining Gurkha Encounters, Ngima worked as a trekking guide for about 10 years. He led treks to almost all the major trekking destination in Nepal, including the most challenging trekking routes such as Amphu Labcha Pass (5,845m) and Tashi Labcha Pass (5,755m). Apart from trekking he has also climbed Mera Peak (6,470m), Island Peak (6,160m) and YalungRi (5,630m). Now, he handles all the correspondence and tour operations. Because of his authentic knowledge and personal experience of trekking routes and destinations, and wide experience in working with foreigners, he is competent to tailor the most appropriate tour programmes as per the clients’ needs and requirements.
