Sister to Pemba Dorje Sherpa, who is also a Guinness Book World Record Holder and Senior Expedition Consultant with Gurkha Encounters, DawaDiki is the first single mother in Nepal to climb Mt. Everest. Tragically, DawaDiki lost her husband on Mt. Everest in the avalanche triggered by the disastrous mega earthquake that hit Nepal on 25 April 2015. Although she has no academic education she has immense experience of working on the mountains. From an early age she worked as a high altitude porter and support staff on high passes and adventurous trekking routes, which provided her with excellent mountain experience. She has also climbed various trekking and climbing peaks including Ramdung Peak (5,925m)
She has been connected with Gurkha Encounters since November 2018 as an Expedition Consultant. Gurkha Encounters and its clients will definitely benefit from her suggestions and advice in organising and operating expeditions.
